Name of book Reasons for liking it
Peter Pan - Lots of characters that children associate with.
The Hobbit - Fond memories of being read it at primary school. The whole class were captivated by it.
The BFG - Lots of pictures and odd words. Fond memories of having the book read to them.
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt- Lots of rhyming makes it fun to read out loud as a class.
Fantastic Mr. Fox - The vivid descriptions of the revolting farmers. The cunning fox out-witting the farmers.
The Secret Garden - The element of secretness.
Brambley Hedge - Lots of colourful and detailed pictures and descriptions. Creates an appreciation of nature.
Alice in Wonderland - Fantasy aspect and riddles.
Wind in the Willows - Pictures and the animals portraying good and bad.
Harry Potter - Identification with Harry.
Kez - Enjoyed the animal aspect.
Just William - World without adults.
The Witches - Develops imagination. Kids versus adults.
Superfudge - Listened to in primary school. Read by teacher who brilliantly portrayed the characters’
accents.
The Famous Five - Solving mysteries.
